Microsoft Looking To Bring Ads To Free-To-Play Xbox Games Reports Business Insider

Reportedly Microsoft is exploring creating an ad program that would allow brands to advertise in free-to-play Xbox games. Sources familiar with the matter told Business Insider that one potential way these ads could display is as digital billboards in car racing games. Something that if true is sort of amazing.

Business Insider reports that the program is set to launch by the third quarter of 2022. The new program could allow developers to make money from free-to-play games without having to rely on paid in-game content. Something that may serve to improve the player experience.

A note about targeting, Business Insider‘s report says, Microsoft won’t use the data it collects from Bing and other services for targeted ads on Xbox. It’s also unknown if Microsoft has floated the idea to advertisers yet.
